Bernadette Peters

 

Bernadette Peters, also known as Lazzara, was born February 28, 1948. She is an American performer, actress, and children's author. Through a long career that spans more than six decades, she has been a part of the musical theatre, on television and in film, as well as performed in performances on her own and recorded. She is an acclaimed Broadway actor. She has received seven Tony Awards nominations (plus an honorary award), as well as nine Drama Desk Award nominations. Grammy Awards have been won by four of the Broadway cast albums which she has appeared on.



 



 Many consider Peters to be the top Stephen Sondheim interpreter. She is especially well-known for her performances on Broadway including Mack and Mabel (1974), Sunday in the Park with George (1884), Song and Dance (1885), Into the Woods with George (1987), The Goodbye Girl (1993), Annie Get Your Gun (1999), Gypsy (2003), A Little Night Music (2010), Follies (2009) and Hello, Dolly (2018).
